On July 12th, 1990, a large formation known as a ‘Pictogram’ appeared in a wheat field in Alton Barnes, Wiltshire, England. When simple crop circles became much more complex, they became known as Pictograms. This pictogram appeared overnight and measured approximately 660 feet long. Local witnesses say the field was completely untouched the day before. The formation appeared on the Carson farm, a location that has since become the most famous location in the world for crop circles appearing.
Researcher Colin Andrews was one of the first on the scene to investigate the mysterious formation. Andrews describes his first-hand experience: “Early in the morning…I received a telephone call from Polly Carson, the wife of farmer Tim Carson telling me that they had been given my number by the British Government’s Department of Agriculture to report a huge strange pattern in his wheat field. Nobody seemed to know who it should be reported to...I drove to the field to investigate the crop circle, which was the first multiple pictogram ever.”
